Need Medicine?!

A couple weeks ago Sister Lewis had this really bad ear ache. We talked about it, and tried to figure out what we could do to fix it, or make it feel better. We went to the store and looked at some things that we could poss get to help. The options that we had weren't bad, but they didn't really fix the problem. We finally came to the conclusion that we needed to call the mission nurse.
We did, and after the conversation we had with her on the phone, she told us to do something totally different then what we were going to do or plan on doing..
So where am I going with this? Well let me try and explain....
There have been many times, in my life when I have had a problem.. Somethings that I try and figure out. I find that when I try and do it myself it is hard and I cant ever seem to solve it. When I put my trust and relying on my Heavenly Father, the problem doesn't go away, but with His help I seem to figure things out.
He gives us things to help us with our everyday struggles and challenges. For example the scriptures... What an AMAZING thing!! I can read them, and find answers to questions and concerns that I have.. Another one is a Prophet and other church leaders.. Like the mission nurse, she was able to tell us right then and there what we needed to do.
The leaders that we have, have been set apart with certain callings to help us.. Aka the Bishop, Mission President, Relief Society President, the Prophet. I am so grateful to the Lord for giving us these people to help us in the things that we need.
I know as for myself I need to learn to put my trust in the lord and His trusted servants.. When I do I will be able to face any challenges that come my way.

Bible or Book of Mormon?

Why do we need the Book of Mormon if we already have the Bible?
This is a very good question, and one that has been asked and that I have thought about for a long time.
The Bible talks of Jesus Christ, His earthly ministry and the Atonement. How amazing is this, that we have the life of our Savior Jesus Christ recorded! I know that the Bible teaches truth and it helps us to understand the teaches of Christ. M. Russell Ballard said,"...the Holy Bible is a miracle! It is a miracle that the Bible’s 4,000 years of sacred and secular history were recorded and preserved by the prophets, apostles, and inspired churchmen.
It is a miracle that we have the Bible’s powerful doctrine, principles, poetry, and stories. But most of all, it is a wonderful miracle that we have the account of the life, ministry, and words of Jesus, which was protected through the Dark Ages and through the conflicts of countless generations so that we may have it today.
It is a miracle that the Bible literally contains within its pages the converting, healing Spirit of Christ, which has turned men’s hearts for centuries, leading them to pray, to choose right paths, and to search to find their Savior."
The Bible is a miracle, and helped with the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Bible is an account of the prophets in Jerusalem. The Book of Mormon, is an account of the prophets in the Americas. So... Why do we have the Book of Mormon?
There are so many accounts, that the prophets give in the Book of Mormon for their reason of writing it.
In 2 Nephi 29 the Lord gives a reason of the Book of Mormon. "...Know ye not that there are more nations than one?..I bring forth my word unto the children of men, yea, even upon all the nations of the earth.. Know ye not that the testimony of two nations is a witness unto you that I am God, that I remember one nation like unto another?...And I do this that I may prove unto many that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and that I speak forth my words according to mine own pleasure.."
The Book of Mormon.."puts forth the doctrines of the gospel, outlines the plan of salvation, and tells men what they must do to gain peace in this life and eternal salvation in the life to come."
I know the Book of Mormon to be Another Testament of Jesus Christ. I know that it teaches truth, and we can come to a greater knowledge and understanding of God, and what we can do to have eternal life.
I invite all of you to follow the prophet Moroni's counsel.."..if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them..that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts... I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with really intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost."
I know these things to be true. I know that Heavenly Father is a loving Father and wants all of His children to know of Him and this gospel so that we can all one day return to live with Him again.

To Be Cont.. Abinadi

To continue from my last post....
I can see that just from watching the video, one of the priest Alma has this look on his face. You can just see that his heart has been touched by the things that Abinadi said by the power of the Holy Ghost.
In the video Abinadi teaches them to repent of their sins, and remember that it is only through Christ we can be saved. Alma's reply to this is," I will remember."
This morning I wanted to read Abinadi's story in the Book of Mormon, and how Alma's life was changed because of the things which Abinadi had spoken. In chapter 17 of Mosiah verses 2-4 it says that Alma "believed the words which Abinadi had spoken."
He pleaded to the King to let him go. The king got angry with Alma and wanted to kill him. He "fled from before them [the king] and hid himself that they found him not. Being hid for many days he did write all the words which Abinadi had spoken."
Alma repented of his sins and went to the people and preached to them the words of Abinadi. I love that in the first video I posted Abinadi said they couldnt touch him until he has said what the Lord wanted him to say. Because of that Alma had a change of heart.
CES Fireside for Young AdultsThe song in this video really touches my heart. "The words of a prophet enlighten my mind, their words of love and peace, and they come from our God on High. Listen! Listen! To a prophet of our Lord."
The last part of this video, where Alma is speaking is found in Mosiah 18:7-11.
I'm so grateful for Abinadi for doing the will of the Lord, and because he did Alma was able to go and teach his words. He continued the work of the Lord.
I love these Book of Mormon prophets and our living prophet today. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is a man called of God and does speak His words. I know that the words of a prophet "enlightens our minds, their words are of love and peace and they DO come from our GOD on high." Listen to the prophet of the Lord.

Abinadi and King Noah Chapter 5

On Monday we had a mission conference. Yes, I kinda already talked about some things that I learned. But as I was going through my notes this morning I read something that really stood out to me at the conference and again this morning.
Elder Kearon of the seventy, asked us about our favorite prophet. In the Bible or Book of Mormon. It was silent only for a few moments and then you start to see these missionaries hands go up and they start naming out all of their favorites. One prophet that was called out was Nephi in the Book of Mormon. Nephi is a very strong and faithful servant of the Lord willing to do anything the Lord asked of him. He then read in 2 Nephi 4:18 which says,"I am encompassed about because of the temptations and the sins which do so easily beset me. And when I desire to rejoice, my heart groaneth because of my sins; nevertheless, I know in whom I have trusted."
Elder Bowen then said, "Nephi felt like we do. Nephi could feel this way and yet he could still be Nephi."
Bad things happen to all of us but we have to chose to take it and learn from it or be upset, like Nephi.
I thought about my favorite prophet Abinadi. He did what the Lord asked him to do, and he was thrown into prison. I cant imagine what was going through in his mind and how he felt but he did what he knew was right. I love his testimony and feel the Spirit every time I play it..
to be continued....

Remember.. to be GrAtEfUl

"Lord I'm grateful for my life,
For my daughter for my wife,
For my heart aches, & my tears,
For the joy through all the years,
& I... I wanna thank you! For everything!
& Lord, I wanna thank you!
For everything and so I'll sing I'm grateful.. Lord, I'm grateful
Lord I'm grateful for thy life,
For thy sacred sacrifice,
For my knowledge for my friends,
For the love through all the years.
& I... I wanna thank you! For everything!
& Lord, I wanna thank you!
For everything and so I'll sing I'm grateful.. Lord, I'm grateful
Sing praise... to the Lord...
Sing praise... to the Lord...
Lord I'm grateful for my life,
For my daughter for my wife,
For my heart aches and my tears,
For the joy through all the years,
& I... I wanna thank you! For everything!
& I... I wanna thank you! For everything!
& Lord I wanna thank you! For everything!
& so I'll sing I'm grateful.. Lord, I'm grateful!
Sing praise... to the Lord...
Sing praise... to the Lord..."
I love this song! especially at the beginning when he says.."For my heart aches and my tears." This goes with my post that I posted yesturday. "As we regularly express our gratitude to our Heavenly Father, we cultivate an uplifting attitude. The Savior has promised, "He who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious (Doctrine and Covenants 78:19)."
Thanksgiving is over, but we should never stop thanking Heavenly Father for the many things that he has blessed us with..
Remember the things that matter most. "..and what is most important always evolves the people around us." -Pres. Thomas S. Monson.. I love this!!! I can't help but to think about my family!
I wish that I didn't just "assume" that they knew I love them, I wish I could've showed them more. Because to me, they are what matters most. Them, and my Heavenly Father. I am very blessed to have them as my family, and that Heavenly Father let me have them as my family. So Lord, I wanna thank you! For my life, my family, for you, for my Savior Jesus Christ, for my trials, for EVERYTHING!
Remember, who you are and what you stand for! I love you all..
